Reproduction 3rd Battalion soldiers uniform -

Reproduction First World War era 3rd Toronto Regiment tunic. Was machine manufactured of green wool. Sleeves are lined with brown fabric (possibly linen). Cuffs have been shortened by hand. Tunic has 5 buttons down front, C3 collar badges, Canada Insignia on top of epaulettes and a red rectangle topped with a smaller green triangle on both arms - signifying 3rd Battalion (green triangle) of 1st Division (red square).

A complete set of '08 pattern beige canvas webbing as worn by Canadian troops over their tunics in WWI. Canvas has been painted. Webbing consists of shoulder straps which attach in front to five small pouches/pockets over each breast pocket and belt. On the right side of belt there are straps to hold canteen. On the left side (over left hip) there is a pouch to hold a digging implement. On back, shoulder straps cross in the centre and attach to straps at opposite hip. Backpack is also attached to straps at back.

Metal cylindrical canteen covered in green wool and handsewn into cover using white and brown thread. Cork in neck of canteen has silver metal topper. Cork/topper is attached to top of canteen with short white rope/string.

Iron entrenching tool. Small V-shaped slightly concave attached to short curved iron shaft. Shaft has oval shaped opening above shovel blade (presumably) so that a long handle could be attached. Object is molded from a single piece. Object is located in the webbing of 01029.1.

Green First World War era major's service dress tunic with 255 Battalion badges on both lapels. QOR buttons on jacket, pockets and epaulettes although not all buttons are original to garment - most notably top button. QOR Canada metal shoulder badges attached to both epaulettes. Green long service cloth bar sewn above left breast pocket.

First World War Sam Browne Belt - / /

Brown leather Sam Browne belt with brass buckles and buttons. Machine manufactured. Belt includes small leather pouch attached at waist on proper right. Leather strap and holster for handgun is attached over left hip. Leather strap secures belt crossing diagonally across the body from proper left of belt over right shoulder - secured under epaulette - and crosses diagonally in the back to reattach at left hip. Belt is decorated with machine embroidery.

Curved metal belt buckle from a First World War era German uniform. Painted a green/grey. Image on front is a crown surrounded by a braided circle with the words "Gott Mit Uns" (God with Us) while a bunch of leaves arc on the bottom half of the circle beneath. All are encircled by a second braided circle. The emblem protrudes from the surface of the buckle. the reverse has loops and prongs that would allow the buckle to be affixed to a belt.

One blue/grey wool epaulette from a German First World War uniform. The number 39 is embroidered using a chain stitch on the front/top of the epaulette with red/orange thread. A brass button with the number 11 embossed on it is attached using a small piece of wood through eye at back. Off-white thread sewn around perimeter. Machine manufactured.

One blue/grey wool epaulette from a German First World War uniform. The number 57 is embroidered on the front/top in red.orange thread using a chain stitch. A brass button with the number 5 is affixed to the fabric by threading the button post through the button hole and sliding a wooden toothpick through the eye at the back. Machine manufactured.

One blue/grey wool epaulette from a German First World War uniform. The number 261 is embroidered on the front/top using a chin stitch and red/purple thread. A metal button (tarnished) with a crown in the centre is affixed to button hole with a 2-pronged pin on reverse. Fabric is folded over and tapered on underside.

Major General Malcolm Mercer Dress Cap - / /

Black full dress cap belonging to Major General Malcolm Mercer. Cap has general staff insignia on front (a sword crossed with a baton surrounded by laurel leaves. A lion perched on top of a red crown is positioned above the sword and baton.) Cap has a thick red felt band around it measuring approx 5cm wide. Leather chin strap is attached to the brim by two small brass buttons positioned above each ear. Short black brim has lauren leaf decorations in gold metal embroidery. Underside of brim is green. Inside of cap is lined in off-white silk. Col. M. S. mercer inscribed on inside in black ink. Mylar barrier has been placed on inside top of cap.

Green First World War era Captain's tunic from the 166th Battalion, CEF. QOR buttons on front and pockets. 2nd button from top is not a QOR button and was likely a replacement. 166th badges on each lapel. Epaulettes have green piping on edges and has a QOR button to fasten to tunic and three pipes of a Captain. Machine manufactured.

Dark brown leather Sam Browne belt with brass buckles and buttons. Machine manufactured. Belt is wider and curved at one end and slimmer and tapered at the other. Two parallel rows of 8 belt holes provide closure options. Bottom prong of belt buckle is missing. Leather strap attaches to belt at left hip crosses in front of body diagonally over the right shoulder (under epaulette) and crosses diagonally back to left hip on reverse side.

Rifle Green single breasted service dress tunic which belonged to Major General M.S. Mercer prior to the First World War. Tunic has red staff flashes on collar and cuffs. Has five black frog closures on Front. and black piping on collar and cuffs. Braided epaulette has one pip and one crown of a Lieutenant Colonel.

While metal helmet with short rim on front. Painted - brush strokes can be seen. One small hole on either side. Inside helmet is black with a metal insert. Attached to the insert are two metal rings for attaching a chin strap.
